I have a Denon AVR 587 and how do I get the best home theater sound in the settings?

The settings are hard to figure out and I can’t seem to get the sound to travel like true home theater

If all of your speakers are about the same size, then set all your speakers at the same volume level. The less you mess with the soundfield, the better it will sound.

Speaker placement is far more important for good sound. Click this link for an idea of what I mean: http://www.avtruths.com/speaker.html

Receiver’s offer so many "tweaks" to the sound. The best thing for movies on your Denon is just plain old "Dolby Digital" or "DTS". And the best thing for music is just "stereo" or "5-channel stereo".

Lastly, your settings for SPEAKER SIZE. This doesn’t mean how big, but where the bass goes. No matter how big your speakers are, if you run with a powered subwoofer, set your speakers to SMALL.

If your speakers aren’t all the same, with coffin-sized for the front and toaster-sized for the center and rear, you’ll have to independently turn up the volume on the smaller ones to get them to match the larger ones.

Well, I have a sony and it seemed that I got the best sound by using the "Cinema" sound setting, I don’t know if yours has preset but I got the best sound, and have you tried HD?
