So if you connect …
So if you connect an iPod component cable to that, would the iPod play on the TV or the DVD play on the iPod (or neither)?

Yes, the most big …
Yes, the most big difference is the colors and the shades. On DVD they are so much packed so darker greys become “crushed” so you can’t see the detail in shadows. On the blu-ray this is not an issue.

i can agree with …
i can agree with you,i have a 42″ sony bravia and a blue ray player when i play normal dvds on it still looks a lot better than in a normal tv, in blue ray the colors looks a better and you can see more details but its not the big difference

It’s not the same. …
It’s not the same. Upscaler cannot make up the missing pixels (480P to 1080P upscaling) on the blu-ray native res is 1080P and there is more detail. You can tell the difference easily when using big screen, like over 100″. In some movies you can tell the difference in 50″ too.

Nah, the DVD …
Nah, the DVD Picture through HDMI is only upscaled, it is not the higher resolution that Blu-Ray is. DVD also does not contain the higher fidelity, that Blu-Ray does. If you actually want HD on disc, don’t waste you money and get Blu-Ray. But yeah, if ya couldnt care less then go for dvd!
February 28th, 2010 at 9:09 am
and the best part …
and the best part you get the same video quality without wasting your money on blue ray

i use composite but if my TV Had More S-video Inputs Then just one i
d use it instead however S-video does seperate Brightness and contrast ”
Chroma and Luma it dos not seperate the color and the color goes down to about 160px wich is Crappy Compared to composite/Coaxial/Component/hdmi/VGA/DVI

believe it or not, but when i connect my dvdset to whatever hdtv,no matter what cable i use i don,t see anny difference.
